Sometimes life feels too much to bear.

You may be realizing that you’re not doing well on your own with confusing or painful feelings. You may have physical symptoms. There may be patterns in your relationships with others or with yourself that feel out of control. That can be unsettling, even frightening.

If you already feel a connection to spirituality, that connection may feel challenged by your internal or external world, like your practice “isn’t working”. If you don’t already have a spiritual practice, you may be feeling the need to develop one.

Perhaps you feel sad, confused, or numb, and the support being offered (or NOT being offered) to you from friends and family may not feel very helpful, or at least not enough.

It feels like life is falling apart, and you don’t know what you can count on anymore.

You may feel tired all the time, and really uncomfortable in your body. You may be in pain. Just getting out of bed is an effort, or maybe it’s actually impossible.

You’re probably trying to just keep on keeping on, but everyday life feels hollow and meaningless. You feel out of sync with the rest of the world. So many parts of your life may be suffering from this feeling of disconnection — your family life, your professional life, your sense of having value in the world. Perhaps, even your sense of whether it’s really worth it to keep moving forward.

You may be thinking that somehow this is your fault, that if you’d done something differently things wouldn’t be happening the way they’re happening.

I want you to know that you can find peace right in the midst of what feels like an impossible situation. There is refuge available to you. You can walk through this time of your life with certainty, right in the middle of uncertainty. Life is changing, and probably won’t ever go “back to normal”, but these changes can be rich doorways to deeper truths in life.
